"Bella learns that both bad things and good things happen and how you perceive the day depends on which you remember or place the most emphasis on. This is a good lesson for kids to learn and it is conveyed with bold, colorful pictures in this book for children. Some of the word choices and the meter of the verses seemed a little odd to me though making some of the stanzas feel clunky throughout the book. Overall I liked the message of the story but the specific words used could be improved a little."

Bella Very Wonderful Day Sophie Carmen Fuuji Takashi Books Reviews

  • I would rate this book three and a half stars. Bella learns that when things seem to go wrong, there is always the possibility that the outcome might turn out to be better than expected. As Bella begins her day she misses the school bus, is switched to a different class, drops her lunch on the ground, and scrapes her knee. In each of these cases, the following action proves to Bella that something bad can turn out good after all. At the end of the day, when her mother asks about her day, Bella decides that it was a good day.

The illustrations are bright and appealing if a bit stylized. This book contains an important message for children to learn but the rhymes are sometimes forced and a bit awkward. Recommended for preschoolers and early school-age children.

  • I got this book for free after seeing it on one of my free book alerts. I got it to add to the night time reading rotation for a 5 year old. The graphics were excellent! Bella has some ups and down during her day and when her Mom asks her about her day at dinner, she focuses more on the good stuff than the bad and ultimately determines for herself and that even when bad things happen you can still have a wonderful day.
  • Fun, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
There is an old saying one man’s work is another’s play. My Dad used to tell us we had to try it before we decide if we liked it, and the older I get the more I realize how right he was.
  • Very cute story line and a really wonderful positive message for children and adults to hear and learn. Illustrations are beautiful, with a lot to see and talk about. The pictures relate well to the story I can't wait to read this to my granddaughter, she's going to Love it! Her name is Izabella, Bella!!
  • This was a cute book. Bella's troubles are all balanced with happy moments, and at the end of the day, she has to decide what it all added up to. The rhymes were a bit off in places, but pretty cute overall.

    Content--pretending "fairy-land"
  • I really enjoyed the illustrations and I loved the book's message. I will enjoy reading this with my kids to teach them to look on the bright side of life. Although something bad may happen, just wait and see what will happen next.
  • This story follows a little girl on her day to and from school...from the bus to the dinner table. Many things happen to her , both good and bad. Does she think she had a good day? A cute, short story.
